Bitterroot. Big Horn. Anaconda - which is cool although it sounds out of place in Montana. Big Belt. Big Sheep. Chalk Buttes. Tendoy. Coeur d'Alene - I'm not much a fan of the French (aside from their cooking) but this name is just sexy. And my favorite, the Crazies.
I would pack up and move to Lewistown, Montana in a heartbeat, if only my wife would let me. I absolutely fell in love with that place when I hunted there last fall. My dad has lived in NW Montana for about thirty years now, and I consider the Libby/Kalispell area sort of a second home, but the lack of prairie and plains has always kept me from seriously considering moving there. Central Montana, for me, is the perfect mix. One of these days...

DeleteNot quite the right time, though, and I'm still not sure my wife would survive a winter there. I should note that I'm just one Powerball ticket away from making it a vacation home.
I just saw where QF/PF ranked Lewistown #2 in their Best Bird Hunting Towns in America. On a list dominated by plains states Montana place two towns in the top 25.
Delete"ab-SORK-ah" is close enough. It's the Crow tribe's name for Crow.

ReplyDeleteOh, I noticed your gun in the picture. I have one similar with the straight stock. I can't hit the ground with it. I had to go the the pistol grip stock (Prince William? Prince something...).
